1. The Affectual Chair - 2011-01-10 13:28:47-05
   Designer Shawn Weiland presents the Affectual Chair, a project with a story to back it up. The chair is made of plywood and offers a relationship between materials, between user and object, and amongst the people interacting with the chair. The chair offers a minimalist look, offering only the elements needed for proper seating solutions. The chairs legs are made up of a 1/2″ stainless steel tube with a 3/8″ rod inside the center for mechanical connection. At the tips of the front legs of the chairs, there's a black urethane cap on each. At the back two legs near the bottom, there's a 3/8″ stainless steel rod mechanically held to a 1/2″ stainless steel tube with a urethane rubber outer membrane for protection. The seat of the chair is made up of 1/2″ plywood with a walnut outer veneer and read oak veneer core. Read The Affectual Chair

It is a heating system that has done away with the good old mantle place. Hence, fancy or not, this design certainly uplifts modern home interior designs we know of today.    LEGO-inspired furnishings are nothing new but this one seems to be using the colors only rather than the actual bricks LEGO has been made famous for. Additionally, the Red and Blue LEGO Chair is not cheap. It costs a whopping $71,000. Coming from Gerrit Rietveld, the chair is actually 6% bigger than the original version and comes with an aluminum frame. Rietveld originally designed his chair for a wide public, but copyright laws prevented the Lego version from being mass-produced.     There is a new Chumby on the block and like previous iterations, this one too has winner written on it. The new Chumby Opus was first seen at CES 2011 and features an 8-inch touchscreen along with a new interface. It runs on an 800MHz Marvell Armada 166 processor  and works wonder with its  28MB RAM and 2GB of internal flash storage.
