My Cousin’s House \ Martin Mostböck Posted: 11 Sep 2012 06:04 AM PDT A Single-family residence with garden. 150 m2 living area, terrace, office, carport. House with controlled living space ventilation (passive house). The residence was designed for doing-it-yourself. Shape, geometry and internal organisation are inspired by the movement of the inhabitants, the sun and the moon. The body and shape of the house are designed on one hand to open up big and broad windows on two facades to the garden to bring in as much light as possible to the living areas. On the other hand the shape helps to shade the house itself when the sun is rising to the zenith and give as much possible shadow to help control natural temperature in the living spaces. Another goal was to get the surrounding nature and the garden “into” the building to make the user feel the seasons, and give the possibility “nearly” to touch the elements (rain, sun, grass, snow, etc.) + Project factsfloor area: app. 150,0 M2 + All images courtesy Martin Mostböck |

A running structured surface, strongly emphasized in its materiality, surrounds the living space and constitutes the daytime – nighttime frame, with sliding doors pointing out links between areas and functions. The boundary is highlighted even by the materic transition between the two floors: structured stoneware tiles to natural wooden [durmast] planks. Everyday living functions are located through changing heights and different light sources: cook, dine, converse, sleep. A comfortable room where every furnishing item talks with the case through the color: it constitutes, as singular episode, the catalyst characterizing element for the surrounding environment. + Project credits / dataConcept and design : 2011 + About [msX2]A dynamic architecture and design award winning Italian young firm developing experimentation, innovation, technology and material research, new living and socializing spaces analysis trough multidisciplinary and multilevel designing, in a continuous quest for a emotional exciting linear style, simple and surprising.
