Heinemann – Duty Free Regionals Vienna \ Coop Himmelb(l)au Posted: 30 Jul 2012 08:21 AM PDT “The Wiener Walzer” COOP HIMMELB(L)AU's concept is based on the Viennese waltz as a central Viennese theme that via state-of-the-art scripting software is translated into the third dimension. Points of interpretation were the movement in space created by the dance steps with its traditional right and left turns, its fast pace and especially the "floating" form of the dance. This created a dynamic, space-encompassing sculpture. For the technical implementation again state-of-the-art technology was utilized. The monolithic spatial sculpture was milled from PU foam from data that were transferred directly from a 3-D-Model, coated with Polyurethane and finally varnished with gold paint as a reference to the important Viennese time of Art Nouveau. As an additional dimension the medium sound is integrated in the design through the waltz "An der schönen blauen Donau" (German for On the Beautiful Blue Danube) by Johann Strauss that in Austria is traditionally played at local festivities. + Project factsHeinemann – Duty Free Regionals Vienna TEAM: Planning: COOP HIMMELB(L)AU Wolf D. Competition: Sort Your Trash Can Posted: 30 Jul 2012 06:56 AM PDT Denmark's largest waste management company seeks out help from design students from all over the world to co-create the trash can of the future. A waste management company called Vestforbrænding, from the environmentally friendly country Denmark, wants design students from all over the world to design a trash can that encourages sustainable behavior in private households.
'Sort Your Trash Can' is the name of the international idea challenge, which strives to provide inspiration for the trash can of the future; one that challenges the traditional design with only one chamber. Implementing an online co-creation process between designer, producer and end user, the contest strives to bring products to market that better meet the users' needs and potentially gives the producers more trust in producing them. Recently, the Danish government supported the creation of the world's first non-profit innovation and co-creation platform Join.dk where design students can upload their ideas. The challenge runs three months from the 28th of July to the 28th of October 2012 and you can learn more by visiting the website www.sortyourtrashcan.com. |
