Posted: 16 Nov 2011 06:03 AM PST Esrawe Studio has recently created the BAN Stools. These stools evoke those used by the African cultures, as well as in America during pre-Hispanic times. They were symbols for status, tradition, religion and identity. They are developed from select, certified, solid walnut, tzalam, and beech wood, produced through a complex process of cutting, assembling and lathing by craftsmen, finished with natural oils. The transversal cut lends it sculpture-like character, allowing the possibility of mixing groups of stools, in different sizes and wood types, creating differents configurations and expressions. + Project credits / dataBAN stools |
Serpentine House \ Phil Darwen Design Posted: 16 Nov 2011 05:44 AM PST Phil Darwen Design has designed the Serpentine House. This hilltop location cried out for a structure of unparralleled design and unique liveability. The house itself contains virtually no straight walls and instead consists of generous curves and sinuous connecting arcs to create a unique courtyard style design. The entry boasts a crescent shaped intrusion of the courtyard water feature which, due to the curved glazed wall, proceeds seemlessly into the central courtyard. Every room in this house allows views out to the sweeping vistas that this location presents while the inward sweep of the central spine hallway takes in the water feature of the courtyard. With generous use of bifold doors, entire spaces can be opened or closed to take full advantage of the breezes and the pop-up hat roofs of the pavilions allow for increased cross ventilation. This home is a stunning residence that combines sweeping architectural lines and light filled living spaces. + All images courtesy Phil Darwen Design |
Kings Beach House \ Phil Darwen Design Posted: 16 Nov 2011 05:29 AM PST Phil Darwen Design has designed the Kings Beach House. Equivalent to a lavish, five-star resort, this residence occupies one of the best, elevated ocean-view blocks in Kings Beach, Caloundra, with spectacular 280-degree ocean views both north and south over the Pacific. Spread over four palatial levels with a separate guest wing, this home exceeds expectations at every turn. The ground floor features a professional wet bar and large sunken lounge room with projection screen, plus portholes in the walls, which give underwater views into the swimming pool that features on the second level. The gourmet kitchen and open dining and living zones feed to alfresco dining and poolside entertaining areas, which overlook the grassed central courtyard. The third level boasts a very deluxe master suite and spacious living zone, plus multiple balconies with fabulous ocean views. There’s a lift to 3 levels, plus many extras such as a wine cellar, professional gym and steam room, self-contained guest wing, and a rooftop covered with artificial-turf and a four-hole putting green with breathtaking 360-degree views. + About Phil Darwen DesignPhil Darwen Design is a boutique architectural design firm focusing on high-end residential constructions with uniquely designed homes that reflect a combination of resort-style architecture, Queensland lifestyle and modern practicality.
