Posted: 18 Nov 2011 07:50 AM PST Israeli based Architect Alex Meitlis has recently completed “House in Savion“, Israel. A single family residence located not far from Tel Aviv. The plot has been divided by vertical walls creating many different spaces, some enclosed with roofs, some semi enclosed and some totally open. The house only occupies a third of the site, while the rest it is for garden, open spaces and swimming pool. The project seeks alternative ways to naturally illuminate the house, to enable sun penetrating in the winter months and to create shade for comfortable use of the spaces in the harsh summer weather in Israel. The ground floor accommodates a living room, an open plan kitchen and dining room. The dramatic openness of this area creates the central spine of the house where it also exhibited the client’s art collection. The use of wood elements in the interior gives a clean, warm character to the house. All rooms open out to adjacent terraces and garden spaces. The Architect manages to integrate the elements of the outdoor into the interior space and to create a tight dialog between interior and exterior by opening windows as frames of the natural surrounding. + Project credits / dataArchitect: Alex Meitlis + All images and drawings courtesy Alex Meitlis | Photo by Anat Pinkus |
Nopi Restaurant in London \ Alex Meitlis Architecture & Design Posted: 18 Nov 2011 06:56 AM PST Nopi is the name of the latest project behind Ottolenghi’s team. Nopi was designed by Architect Alex Meitlis and was recently winner of the Gourmet Award by “Condé Nast Traveller“ in its annual competition Innovations & Design Awards. This Soho based restaurant described as a “brasserie with a twist” is split between two levels. The design is more formal on the ground floor. The main dining area is designed with brass, oak, gold-veined Greek marble elements and has beautiful replicas of antique lamps from old Jaffa hanging from the ceiling. While downstairs there is a more informal feel with its long communal tables looking into the open kitchen. Ottolenghi’s food philosophy is based on quality, innovation and freshness. Nopi is a total new creation, not a traditional brasserie but a modern one where plates are designed to be shared and are based on Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian influences. + Design: Alex Meitlis Architecture & Design + All images courtesy Alex Meitlis Architecture & Design |
Posted: 18 Nov 2011 04:39 AM PST “Canot 32” is the latest work done for Arcoa shipyard, with his 10 m lenght and his mahogany deck, the canot 32 remembers the spirits of the automotive boats of the 50′s, used to luxury escape and pic-nic in the islands. White deckhead, lacquer hull, mahogany color, stainless steel fittings, this boat is just a jewel. + Designer: Blossom Creative
