Crystal Design Center Phase 2 | dwp (design worldwide partnership) Posted: 31 May 2011 03:02 AM PDT Building on the success of the first phase of this landmark design centre, in Thailand's capital, world-class architecture and interior firm dwp further developed the masterplan for a 32,000sqm extension. Comprising multiple two-storey units that house small- and medium-sized retail outlets, the design ties together 14 buildings through a series of walkways, bridges and integrated graphics. A central elliptical plaza offers a prime location for events and special activities, as well as an extraordinary view over the Crystal Design Centre Phase 1, also designed by dwp. Between the buildings, a courtyard cleverly clusters a group of small kiosks. The central boulevard of the Phase 2 masterplan intentionally continues the main axis from Phase 1, creating a spatial connection between the two. The contemporary design of this educational precinct ensures the Crystal Design Centre's position, as a benchmark for learning and creative facilities, throughout Asia. + Click here to read more about Crystal Design Center Phase 1. + Project credits / dataProject: Crystal Design Center Phase 2 + All images courtesy dwp |
Compound Collection | Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau Posted: 31 May 2011 01:08 AM PDT Swedish designer Jangir Maddadi has recently launched the Compound Collection. The design challenges the endless possibilities that fit to any size of spaces.
Following over a year of research, blue printing and local production negotiations, JMDB is ready to launch publicly the first phase of its much-anticipated Compound Collection. The highly innovative project features four combinable shapes offered in a variety of materials that comprise a range of unique luxury benches. The Compound Collection allows developers to pick and choose their own ideal seating arrangement to suit their needs. The collection was privately exhibited in January at Kalmar Castle during a reception attended by JMDB friends and family, among whom was guest speaker US Ambassador Matthew Barzun. It was at this function that the Compound Collection received a resoundingly positive response, and JMDB has taken the last few months to perfect the final product prior to its public launch. Each of the four shapes of the Compound Collection follows the organic, curving forms made famous by Maddadi's earlier Union Bench collection from 2004. The new collection's pieces have been designed to fit cohesively together in a way that gives clients infinite opportunities to create truly original seating plans. The benches will be offered in coated foam, fiberglass, Corian, concrete, and wood. JMDB will begin its multi-stage launch by marketing first the benches in coated foam, a material available in all RAL colors. New to the world of modern furniture, coated foam offers a multiplicity of unique characteristics. Soft to the touch, sleek and elegant, this material is the solution in the designer's quest to find pieces that convey both playfulness and chic style. With all unnecessary elements removed, the Compound Collection in coated foam is an aesthetic masterpiece in its refined forms and contemporary material. Head designer and company founder Jangir Maddadi looks forward to his company's approaching product release and is confident for its success. + Designer: Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau | http://jangirmaddadi.se/products/compound-collection/ + All images courtesy Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau |
