Foster + Partners’ City Park selected for West Kowloon Cultural District Posted: 04 Mar 2011 06:31 PM PST After the year-long public consultation in Hong Kong, Henry Tang, Hong Kong's chief secretary and chairman of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, announced that Foster + Partners' 'City Park' conceptual masterplan has been selected for West Kowloon Cultural District. The project is considered to be the largest cultural initiative in the world today. The competition was organized by West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in 2008. 109 proposals were submitted and 12 were invited to compete. Last year, 3 of shortlisted firms (Office for Metropolitan Architecture, Rocco Design Architects Limited and Foster + Partners) were selected and asked to further develop the schemes. City Park will be a major cultural centre for music, performing and visual arts, incorporating public spaces and spaces for Chinese culture, living, working, galleries and studios on a dramatic harbour-front site in the heart of Hong Kong. + Visit City park’s proposal and images here featured on +MOOD & announcement of WKCDA Board.
