Veuve Clicquot at London Design Festival 2010 Posted: 19 Sep 2010 02:13 AM PDT Veuve Cliquot has partnered with Dezeen during The London Design Festival. Veuve Clicquot will bring the Mathieu Lehanneur-designed ‘Once Upon A Dream‘ sleep creation to the Andaz Hotel where the dream capsule will play host to design luminaries and London tastemakers as they read excerpts of their favourite books, magazines, and poetry. The London Design Festival is a nine-day (September 18th – 26th) celebration of design in the world's creative capital. The Festival is a platform for the widest spectrum of design disciplines, brought together as a unique and accessible program. The program ranges from major international exhibitions to trade events, installations to talks and seminars, from product launches to receptions, private views and parties. Veuve Clicquot approached Mathieu Lehanneur to create an extraordinary space, a kind of sleep unit between "fairy tale" and home cinema to allow Hôtel du Marc guests to recover as quickly as possible from jetlag. Designed to help people rapidly recuperate and adapt to their new surroundings, Once upon a dream is based on tested psychological studies used in sleep treatment clinics to help cure chronic insomnia. This is actually a nod to the history of the Veuve Clicquot House since Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin was herself a notorious insomniac. The capsule, so characteristic of the innovative spirit found in Mathieu Lehanneur's works, will be previewed at the London Design Festival, before coming to rest at the Hôtel du Marc in 2011. + All images courtesy Veuve Clicquot |
