Here is a cool looking desk you may want. The Le Orchidee Desk is highly influenced by a desk at Musee d' Orsay in Paris, featuring a fabulous seamless tambour roll top. It appears to be one solid piece of wood where the top is actually made of veneered canvas layered upon strips of wood.

Marc Fish applied a special technique to attain the effects of the Le Orchidee desk which should be something worth working on or even for studying.

The Ribbon Lamp from Damien Urvoy combines plastic and wood. The plastic embraces the light to diffuse the warm color while the wood is all natural.

The lamp is sold unassembled to save space during transport and so that at the end of the life of the lamp, each piece can be separated and recycled in the most pure way. The lamp is simple to store and cheaper. Some assembly may be required though, a little DIY project for getting utter in-room ambiance.
