Space Saving Furniture (Part 2) Posted: 01 Jul 2010 12:21 PM PDT If you have been a long term HD fan, you’ll probably remember our first space saving furniture post. Well, it's time for an update. The level of sensibility and innovation that goes into creating multi-functional units is truly remarkable and well worth the quirky surprise when you realize your workstation is also your bed! And let's be honest, it has been a long time coming since we (along with our pets) have been crying out for more personal space in our ever-shrinking apartments, so what's better than to keep hitting you with our favorite discoveries of these home design inventions? The answer is- Nothing. These pieces can make the difference between living well in a perfectly compact studio and having to pay extra rent for that 1 bedroom apartment! The video below features an Italian-Designed space saving furniture company called Resource Furniture that creates multi-purpose convertible furniture pieces that are amazing! There are at least 2 functions built into every single unit. Some even have more. This ping pong table/door by Tobias Fraenzel does take away the need for a special gaming room for playing TT. Here is another example. Piano Table inside a dining table! Concept by George Bohle (via Unplggd) Check out this Modern Dining Room set of stools, in a cube! The demonstration below is of a desk/bed conversion by Hidden Bed and is a spectacular solution for college dorm rooms! At first glance, this bed would appear to disappear into someone’s kitchen. But worry not, as it is actually a retractable arrangement that folds up right into a small cupboard. In the beginning there was hay… As it turns out hay is for horses. Now we have Modular Beds as TreeHugger recently pointed out, which are the modern version of the Murphy Bed except this model doesn’t require clearing of space before the bed descends from the ceiling!! In fact, this bed can be leveled at three different heights to accommodate your other furniture. How conveniently clever is that! To end with, here is a garden bench that converts into a picnic table and two benches…
