With a new foyer, the culture center will get; a new face that invites in, all people in Ruderdahl's municipality and a heart that can bring together and highlight the many users and activities in the house. The culture center merges together with the green landscape: it bridges the gap between the arrival area, the cultural plaza and beautiful backyard of Mariehøj, it opens up towards the surroundings and incorporates the green qualities to the activities in the house. The house is on the same time a cultural activity center and a well-functioning working place. Through reorganization and rebuilding; better spaces for individual activities is created and a more appropriate positions of the various functions. Korea Electric Power Corporation Headquarters | DRDS Posted: 15 Jun 2010 09:40 AM PDT Korea Electric Power Corporation Headquarters is a recent competition entry project designed by DRDS.
+ Project description courtesy of DRDSThe Project is a new corporate HQ for KEPCO, a world-renowned utility company. The project includes approximately 120,000 SM of office, public amenities and an energy center. It is situated on the NW corner of Naju, an emerging and innovative new community. It's presence in the region constitutes a major new anchor point for KEPCO and its continuous advocacy of sustainable management. The facility will promote "Green-Energypia," a network of green community. The design is inspired by KEPCO's logo, embodied by the eternity of an infinite loop and the illumination that provides hope. It is also metaphor for clean energy sources generated by the company utilizing nuclear fusion and fission. The coherency between the energy source and the interaction between them initiated the malleable podium and the iconic yet a slim office tower typologies recognizing the whole as an integrated figure. The Green Energy Plaza on the Southwest creates a piazza-like formal entry/drop-off, and the Green Energy Park on the Northeast is the backyard that opens up to the adjacent Bit Park separating vehicular and pedestrian circulation. Distinguishable triangulated geometries on the landscape as well as on the buildings serve as mechanisms harvesting renewable/ recycle solar, wind, water and geothermal energy. + Project credits / dataProject: Korea Electric Power Corporation Headquarters + All images and drawings courtesy of DRDS
